Sanitary Fittings, LLC FAQs

Common questions about our business and policies

I need a part that isn’t listed on your website, do you offer custom fabrication?

Yes, we offer custom fabrication! Our process usually starts out with a request from the customer. Submit a request here. While we prefer to have detailed drawings from the customer this isn’t always the case. Sometimes we get rough dimensions and explanations, sometimes we get cocktail napkin sketches, and sometimes we receive just a rough idea of what the customer is trying to accomplish.

Either way, we have a team of engineers and designers available to walk the customer through this process of clearly defining their needs.

Read more about this process, “Custom Manufacturing from Sanitary Fittings“.

Do you honor tax exempt certificates?

Yes! Please create an account with us to upload your documents directly to your profile.

If you don’t have an account, you can submit your tax exempt certificate to sales@sanitaryfittings.us so we can get it on file. Once uploaded, you’ll be able to checkout online without paying taxes.

Do you offer lines of credit?

Yes. We offer qualified buyers standard terms of 2/10 NET 30. Please work with our sales team if you would like different terms.

Please contact sales@sanitaryfittings.us to request an application.

Can I use my own shipping account for my order?

Absolutely. Please send your account number and carrier preference to our sales team before you order. We’ll switch over to your account. We currently work with UPS, FedEx, and DHL.

How do I return an item?

To return items purchased from Sanitary Fittings, LLC, please contact us at sales@sanitaryfittings.us. Sanitary Fittings will accept returns on any product in its original condition within 30 days after delivery. Further details regarding our return policy can be found on our Returns Policy page.

Do you offer Material Test Reports (MTRs) for your products?

Material Test Reports (MTRs) come standard with all 316L stainless steel products.

We can provide MTRs for 304 products but we ask that you request these ahead of time. There may be additional fees for 304 MTRs because they are not recorded automatically.

How do you ensure I get quality products and not cheap knockoffs?

As a distributor of stainless steel sanitary fittings, we’ve partnered solely with manufacturers capable of delivering the very best products on the market.

In most cases, our suppliers are ISO 9001 Certified, meaning they not only talk the talk, but walk the walk as well.

You can always rest assured that the parts we provide not only meet, but exceed your expectations for excellence. Read more about our quality inspection process.

What is your warranty policy?

Sanitary Fittings, LLC is a distributor of stainless steel fittings and parts for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. We source our products from several vendors, each with their own unique product warranty. Read more about manufacturer warranties.

The website says you’re currently out of stock for an item I’m interested in. When can I expect this to be back in stock?

We keep a high level of inventory on-hand and replace out of stock items quickly. The usual lead time for out of stock items is about 2-3 weeks. We are often able to source from other vendors. Reach out to our sales team if you have more questions.

Do you provide fittings for small repairs and large facility upgrades?

Yes. With no minimum order requirements, Sanitary Fittings supports everything from single-part emergency repairs to full facility overhauls. Whether it’s one gasket or an entire system of valves and hoses, we have you covered.

Product and Industry FAQs

Questions about our products and industries we serve

What is 3-A and are your fittings 3-A?

3-A Sanitary Standards were developed as a collaboration between various sectors of the sanitary equipment industry, including regulatory agencies, equipment manufacturers, and end-users. Their goal is to establish comprehensive benchmarks for sanitary design and construction. By meeting 3-A criteria, manufacturers demonstrate that their products are engineered to prevent contamination and promote cleanliness, ultimately safeguarding the integrity of food-grade products.

Do you offer fittings compatible with European DIN standards?

Absolutely. In addition to tri-clamp fittings, we carry a full line of DIN fittings widely used in European breweries. This ensures compatibility whether you’re sourcing equipment internationally or expanding your current brewhouse.

What makes sanitary fittings "food‑grade"?

Our fittings are 3A certified and made with non-toxic, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, ensuring surfaces are safe for food contact, easy to clean, and reduce contamination risks.

I need a hose but I'm not sure what I need. Do you offer other hoses or sizes that are not listed on your website?

Yes, we can offer other hoses as well as custom sizes that are not listed on the website. If you’re not able to find the hose you need from our, “off-the-self” selection or are not able to create the exact hose you need from our Hose Customizer, please fill out our Request a Quote form.

Be sure to include as much information about your specific needs as possible.

Do your food‑grade hoses resist high temperatures and sanitizing chemicals?

Yes, most of our hoses are engineered to withstand high temperatures, pressure, and cleaning agents without compromising material integrity or flavor neutrality.

What’s the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel and which should I choose?

We offer fittings primarily in 304 and 316L stainless steel. While 304 is commonly used in general food processing applications, 316L provides superior resistance to chlorides, acids, and corrosive environments, which makes it ideal for dairy, sauces, high-salt, or acidic products.

What does “ASME‑BPE compliant” mean?

ASME BPE (BioProcessing Equipment) sets the industry’s highest standard for cleanliness, tolerances, and material documentation in biopharma.

Compliance signifies that every fitting meets strict requirements for surface finish, traceability, and fit, which is essential for safe and sterile pharmaceutical production.

How do you ensure traceability and quality with your fittings?

Each fitting is individually bagged and labeled with heat lot numbers. We supply Material Test Reports (MTRs) with every order (for 316L stainless steel products) for full traceable documentation and regulatory compliance.

What levels of interior surface finish do you offer?

We provide two ASME BPEapproved finishes with others available by request:

20 Ra (SF1/PL) – mechanically polished for general applications

15 Ra (SF4/PM) – electropolished for ultrasmooth interiors, minimizing contamination risk and easing cleaning.

For more information on Ra, read, “Surface Finish: Roughness Average Explained“.

How do I know which fitting size I need for my sanitary system?

Fitting sizes are typically based on the outside diameter (OD) of the tubing or piping used in your system. Our product listings include detailed size charts, and our support team is always available to help you select the right size for your setup.
